Fergus – 1 year old male Bedlington Terrier cross Whippet

This is the gorgeous Fergus. Fergus is a 1 year old Bedlington Terrier cross Whippet. Fergus is a happy, friendly and affectionate young man. He bonded very quickly with people. He is a little lively when he first comes out for his walks , but soon settles down, he would benefit from further lead training too, although he is getting much better. He also has good recall.

Fergus is good with other dogs, and in fact would prefer to live with another dog ideally a similar type but female. He travels well in the car, and is clean and non destructive in his kennel. Fergus would prefer a home where someone is around most of the time, as he loves to be with you. Fergus did have an old injury to his back leg, this has been sorted now and his doing really well. Fergus is castrated, chipped and fully vaccinated.

Can you offer this gorgeous boy his forever home ?

Bedllington cross needs a home......

Beautiful Milly is still looking for her forever home, she is not quite 2 years old. Milly has been a much loved pet for the last 18 months, unfortunately her owner has become ill and cannot give her the time and exercise she needs. Milly is house trained, well behaved and very friendly.

We are looking for a very special home for this girl, please be sure your home meets our criteria and you really are ready to home before applying.

For those who are, call 07000 785 092

Huge thanks to Liz Coleman for the use of this gorgeous photo.

little lurcher owners.... have been inspired by this poem since I was a child, will never be without a little raggy, shaggy dog!

Have you seen a little dog,
Anywhere about?
A raggy dog, a shaggy dog
who is always looking out
for some fresh mischief
which he thinks he ought to do,
He's very likely, at this minute,
biting someone's shoe.

If you see that little dog,
his tail up in the air,
A whirly tail, a curly tail,
a dog who does not care
For any other dog he meets,
not even for himself,
Then hide your mats
and put your meat upon the shelf.

If you see that little dog,
barking at the cars,
A raggy dog, a shaggy dog,
with eyes like twinkling stars,
Just let me know
for though he's bad as bad can be,
I wouldn't change that dog
for all the treasures of the sea!

Thanks Viv for sending us a picture of Foggy!

How nice to see a new blog for these brilliant crosses.  Does my Foggy qualify for inclusion?
She's sired by a bedlington/whippet out of a coursing greyhound. Blue, rough-coated, stands 21" - a proper little rabbiting dog. Now 15-1/2 years old, still going strong although she's missing a few teeth!  And she can clear her dinner dish faster than anyone else

Introduction

Hello

As an owner of both a pure Bedlington and a Lurcher (bedlington/whippet first cross) I have followed the bedlington blog for many years, I thought it would be nice to have one just for beddywhippet crosses, these very clever and amusing Lurchers.

Please do share and send me any contributions and pictures, we would love to see them!

"Beddywhippets are not for the faint hearted. They are very high energy busy intelligent and often stubborn little dogs. Many people are attracted to them because of their looks but they are not necessarily as laid back as other Lurcher crosses.
Lurchers were originally bred for poaching and are generally the result of crossbreeding a sighthound with another breed such as a collie or a terrier.
Their size is variable they can be 16.5 to 19 inch to the shoulder most beddywhippets are bred as rabbiting lurchers but make great little show dogs & pets aswell.
The coat type and upkeep requirements will vary depending on the type of cross. Coat types range from rough and broken in the first cross to broken & smooth in a ¾ bred. " From Fonzie's Breeder Jeff Hutchings
